On Monday evening, December 8, 2025, the sounds of the season filled Hempstead Town Hall as choir scholars from Jackson Main and band students from ABGS delivered a memorable performance for the Town of Hempstead’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Hempstead Union Free School District is proud to share that our scholars were recently featured on NBC New York for their outstanding work organizing and hosting a community food drive. Through their efforts, more than 100 families across Hempstead received much-needed support.

A momentous occasion took place on the campus of Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School this October, as district leaders, community members, and scholars joined together to celebrate the start of a new era for Hempstead’s middle school community.
